Fine structure observation in magnetostriction near the transition temperature in Gd5Si1.95Ge2.05

چکیده
Gd5(SixGe1-x)4 has a complex magnetic-structural phase diagram which can be divided into three distinct regions. I t exhibits an unusual first order coupled magnetic-structural phase transition in the region 0.41 ≤ x ≤ 0.51. A series of magnetostrictive strain measurements were carried out as a function of magnetic field strength at different temperatures and as a function of temperature at near zero magnetic field strengths have been carried out. In this paper we report for the first time the observation of fine structure in the variation of strain with magnetic field near the first order phase transition temperature. This fine structure was observed only for the single crystalline and polycrystalline samples of Gd5Si1.95Ge2.05 but not for Gd5Si2Ge2 and Gd5Si2.09Ge1.91 samples. There was a sudden increase of about 200-300 ppm in the magnetostrictive strain just prior the field induced first order phase transition. In this paper this anomaly is termed as fine structure. It was observed in measurements of both magnetostrictive strain versus magnetic field and magnetostrictive strain versus temperature. In the case of the polycrystalline Gd5Si1.95Ge2.05 sample this anomaly was not as sharp and the sudden magnetostrictive strain change was about 40 ppm just before the field induced first order phase transition.

In this research. The magnetic phase transition and anisotropic magnetoelastic effects of a polycrystalline sample of Nd14Dy2Fe78B6 were studied by susceptibility and magnetostriction measurements. The composition was prepared by casting method. SEM pictures and XRD analysis showed that it was composed of polycrystalline magnetic phases with the main phase of 2-14-1. Results of ac susceptibil...
متن کاملVariation of magnetostriction with temperature in Tb5Si2.2Ge1.8 single crystal
The Tb5(SixGe4−x) alloy system is similar to the better known Gd5(SixGe4−x), except it has a more complex magnetic and structural phase diagram. Gd5(SixGe1−x)4 has received much attention recently due to its giant magnetocaloric effect, colossal magnetostriction and giant magnetoresistance in the vicinity of a first order combined magnetic-structural phase transition. The magnetostriction chang...

In this research the magnetoelastic properties of Nd6Fe13-xCoxCu (x = 0 and 1) intermetallic compoundes are investigated. Analysis of X-ray diffraction patterns indicates that a single phase is formed approximately for x = 0 and the x = 1 sample is multi-phase. The lattice parameters were decreased, the Néel temperature of main phase and the Curie temperature of impurity phase was increased...
متن کاملA comparative study of magnetostrictive strain in Pr3Fe24.75Co2.75Ti1.5-ingot and Pr3Fe24.75Co2.75Ti1.5-melt spun
In this work, the structural and magnetic properties of ingot and melt-spun Pr3Fe24.75Co2.75Ti1.5 compounds have been investigated. The structural characterization of the compounds, by X-ray powder diffraction, is evidenced for a monoclinic Nd3(Fe,Ti)29-type structure (A2/m space group). A 2-type FOMP have been observed in the magnetic AC susceptibility curves of the ingot and melt-spun compoun...

Transition metal dichalcogenide (TMDC) materials are very important inelectronic and optical integrated circuits and their growth is of great importance in thisfield. In this paper we present growth and fabrication of MoS2 (Molibdan DiSulfide)thin films by chemical bath method (CBD). The CBD method of growth makes itpossible to simply grow large area scale of the thin la...
